Switching to a travertine backsplash made the silestone look very different from when the backsplash was teal ceramic.  We also did a diagonal lay instead of a straight lay.

We did not replace the countertops in this kitchen, leaving them the original silestone, but we did replace the backsplash, seen below to the left, with a beautiful travertine backsplash.  We also painted the room, along with much of the rest of the home, and added lighting.  We added rope lights above the cabinets as well as puck lights underneath the upper cabinets.  Finally, we removed the original white tiles on the floor and installed new tile, seen far below.

The new tile flooring really warms up the main areas of the house where it was installed, including the entrance, powder bath (below), kitchen, and breakfast area.
